How we make our guides
We want every Fix and Furrow guide to answer the question you came with, quickly, and to be honest about what it does not know.
Drafting
Guides are drafted with AI writing tools working from a detailed brief: a specific reader question, the format that answers it best (a cost guide, a how-to, a comparison), and a short list of approved public sources for that subject. We do not let drafts invent statistics, quotes, product test results or personal stories.
Checking and editing
Each draft goes through an editing pass that checks claims against the listed sources, removes filler, and makes sure safety warnings are present where they matter: electrical, gas, roofing, structural and chemical work. New guides wait in a review queue before they are published.
Prices
Costs are typical U.S. ranges, not quotes. Where we give a number we explain what pushes it up or down, because your ZIP code, your house and the season matter more than any national average.
Money, insurance and utilities
Guides in our Home Money section are general information. They are not financial, insurance or legal advice, and we tell readers to confirm details with providers and licensed professionals.
Advertising
Ads on Fix and Furrow come from the Othonic ad network, which has the same owner as this site. They are matched to the topic of the page and are always labeled. Advertisers never see guides before they are published and cannot pay to change them.
Corrections and updates
If something is wrong, email corrections@fixandfurrow.com. We fix errors and show the updated date at the top of the guide.
